“VODAFONE AND PARALYMPIC ATHLETE SHOW NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE…"

5G was a technological milestone for Dutch telecom providers, but Vodafone had yet to capture the imagination of its Dutch consumers. For the launch of 5G, we collaborated with visually impaired Paralympic athlete Tristan Bangma. As a tandem racer, he completely relied on his co-pilot for navigation. Until now. We created a 5G-fueled application to showcase the human side of Vodafone's 5G network.

TOGETHER WE CAN

We created a new 5G fueled technology to make Tristan Bangma’s dream come true. Tristan’s story became the center piece of our campaign. The Copilot application was placed on the front and the back of his racing bike. It tracked his real-time surroundings through a LiDAR sensor. This data was then send to the cloud, where it translated into an 8D sound file. Picking up potential obstacles as a beeping tone. The louder the tone, the closer the obstacle. This file was then send back to Tristan’s ear pods. Letting him see his surroundings through his ears. All in a split millisecond through Vodafone’s powerful 5G network.

After a successful PR introduction, our technology quickly caught the eye of big media outlets. Tristan’s story got featured in the biggest news show in the country. And in all other main newspapers, platforms and channels. Our short film reached 1.000.000 streams on different social platforms. Making Tristan’s story one to finally capture the imagination of the Dutch audience around Vodafone’s 5G network.
